This weekend sees three senior sides from Essex compete in Round One of England Squash Senior Inter Counties 25/26.
Last year, Essex Men qualified directly for the Finals. At Finals Weekend, the team, led by Mike Aley, went down 3–2 to eventual runners-up Yorkshire in a tightly contested match. They responded with back-to-back victories over Kent and Avon to secure an impressive 5th-place finish.
Essex Women narrowly lost 3–2 in the opening round before progressing to the Finals to face Wales, Leicestershire and Devon. Wins against Leicestershire and Devon saw Lara Newton’s side finish 5th in the Promotional Division.
This year, Essex has entered an additional team into the competition — Essex Men B.
