Essex University Squash Alumni Aaron Wood Memorial Tournament

Press Release – Essex University Squash Alumni Aaron Wood Memorial Tournament
Saturday 5th Jan 2019

Saturday 5th Jan 2019 saw the Essex University Squash Alumni assemble for their annual Aaron Wood Squash Doubles Memorial Tournament to fund raise for the Brain Tumour Research Charity. 40 players and spectators returned to their alma mater Squash courts at the University sports Centre in Colchester.
Aaron Wood was a very popular and enthusiastic member of the University Squash Club – he became Chair of the club in his last years at the Uni and tragically died from a brain tumour that despite treatment became inoperable shortly afterwards. Despite the fact that he was undergoing chemo etc and enduring the illness he still played squash and took full part in the social activities associated with the club.
Former Club members and officials Ben Wakile and Tom Allum-Wood organised the event in his memory on the day, and with a raffle and entry fees/donations raised a magnificent £500 for the charity.

Finalists - Robert Dadds, Ben Waterman, Ed Dowdall, Chris Shaw

Chris Vine – Ex University of Essex Head Squash Coach!
